Please do. Titivillus's travails deserve broader currency.

It is amazing sometimes to look at the past and see both how similar we are and how advanced we've become :)

Not only a thousand bags of fail, but those fails done by typos or misspeakings or other omissions or errors. If his master had wanted anything but the most common failings, he'd be beaten to death by now.

Specifically, in reading and singing in the Abbot's order. Tytyuyllus (Titivillus?) was collecting mistakes that people made while reciting Scripture, chanting hymns, etc.

Which, at the time, would have been very bad, because only perfectly recited prayers with no errors would be accepted by G-d for whatever reason they would be given. I'm sure the Abbot and his monks were very busy reciting prayers to correct the errant ones on behalf of the people who made mistakes.

Titivillus is the spelling given in the margin of the (19th-century and thus Modern English) book. (It's on page 54.)
