Update #2

Jan 06, 2010 17:21

So: no GPS co-ordinates. I'm going to try to keep this thing updated, anyway, with whatever information I can find, in case somebody's trying to get a fix on our location.

...that's right, Tony. Ziva's here. She seems fine. I haven't asked her about Israel, but I will.

What else? Well, like I said: no GPS co-ordinates, and more generally, just-- ( Read more... )

Uh, hey! So other people can see my entries. Well, that's a start.

And, nothing to worry about. Just trying to get my head around this place. I kind of just...woke up here.

It seems to be pronounced as "Pie-zow" by most of the inhabitants, although I've heard a few uses of "Pie-shao" and even "Pikes-ow". "Pai-show" seems to be, however, the other popular choice, which would make the most sense as Paixao is a Portuguese word. It means "passion". Course, no one here sounds very Portuguese, do they? Which is why, I suppose, "Pie-zow" is so popular. Quite a few other names of places here are Portuguese too, in fact. And yet, most of the architecture and clothing is Victorian. Then we have the gates which are named from mythology.

Quite a mish-mash, isn't it?

[Sounding it out] Pie-zow. Pie-zow. It doesn't sound Portuguese. Are we in Portugal? In any case...this place is, uh, culturally confusing. To say the least.

The gates? Like the one I came in through? Who named them?

No, no. "Pie-zow" is mostly what they say here, "Pie-show" is Portuguese. Anyways, no, this isn't Portugal. At least no part of Portugal I've ever seen. Not that I've been there very often. I always seem to end up in Britain.

Yes, there's four of them around the city. Haven't a clue who named them though. Not sure it's all that important, but then again, who knows.

So how and why did you come here, if I might ask?

Four entrance gates; yeah, they're on the map. But where do people enter from? We're surrounded by sea, right? Do you know which sea?

Er, yes. Chances are Tony and Gibbs probably can't see this, but I'd like to keep it updated, just in case.
