so my friend recommended this new band called "Her Space Holiday" that I've been listening to on seeqpod all day. Kind of an Eels meets an even more crazy depressed emo band, but they do some interesting stuff with classical samples on some of the tracks, and I've been enjoying the lyrics ( Read more... )

The Flaming Lips, that's the other band I was looking for. And I feel no guilt listening to the Eels, or the flaming lips for that matter.

Fucking hard-core junglist, right? heh.

I'm really digging this guys writing tho:

"She's towing the line she's gendered defined
it's the magic of America we're always so American
if she had her way she would know what to say
to that girl that comes into her store by herself
but not alone it's her confident charm
and the curve of her arms
that tightly bends her circuitry
into a twisted mess of interesting
the girl's outside and she offers a ride
but she says I think I'll take my bike
it is such a lovely night
with one look back she accepts the fact
it's the magic of America
we're always so American"

Yeah, the Flaming Lips are awesome too. You can't just listen to jungle or breaks or whatever...

Yeah, he's got some good lyrics!

This mght be too far down the musical genre totem pole for ya but WIG (west indian girl) is a band not to pass up and they sound like this group by the lyrics of it.

Her Space Holiday isn't very new, but they are a near favorite of mine. I distinctly remember the first time I heard them in July 2005. It was such a moment, I remember the date. haha

Haha! Lately I've been into dance-rock sort of stuff. I'm super into The Blow right now, as well as Kid Sister and Yelle. But umm... that's just me.

I've heard The Blow song 'Parentheses' before and really dig it. Thanks for the recommendations.
