I've heard as much from relatives visiting from Korea. I feel like there's this weird vibe in Korea (correct me if I'm wrong) where they hate/fear foreigners but want to emulate their mannerisms anyway. The typical love/hate relationship, if you will.

My little cousin makes me so sad--he was born without a part of his arm (which is, apparently, the equivalent of a death knell in Korean society) and his mother is so convinced that he'll fail at life, that she's forcing him to become a translator. Against his will, and against his natural talent. He's already 16, he can't/won't speak English worth a damn, and it's clearly not the way he's going to make his way in life.

It just makes me sad that after "learning" English since the age of 10, he still can't respond in the simplest of contexts. I'm not sure he can even respond to an initial greeting.

they will get taught the great lession of life...
and when they do, and realize that can't buy it with money...

All you need is connections, money, and complete lack of self-respect

That's true of anywhere. The Olsen twins got into Columbia, for crying out loud.

The TOEFL is easy. I took a TOEFL when I was in high school because I was bored and I made a perfect score on it. LMAO!!!
