It's still Sunday here!
1. How long have you been writing fan fiction?
I wrote my first piece of fanfic in the fall of 2001, and I've been writing on and off (mostly on) since then. I dropped out of fandom as an active writer for a little while, but even when I wasn't writing, I was reading. I've been an active writer since about two and a half years now.
2. Have you participated in any other fandoms?
My fandoms at the moment are NCIS and SGA. I've also written in Firefly, and I've dabbled in CSI and a tiny bit of Weiss Kreuz. But my main three are Firefly, NCIS, and SGA, in order of chronology.
3. What do you enjoy most about SGA and/or SGA fandom?
I love the response in this fandom, the way people are so wonderful about discussions and feedback. I joined SGA fandom a little on the late side; I didn't get here until the hiatus between s2 and s3, and I've been made to feel incredibly welcome as an author and a fellow fan.
As for the show, I have to say I love the interplay between McKay and Sheppard, that solid friendship (we all know it's something more, but on screen...). I wasn't enthralled with the show when I started watching, I kept watching for McKay, and then I saw 38 Minutes and fell in love with the McKay/Sheppard. They're perfect together, and I really enjoy exploring their relationship and how they relate to the people and the world around them.
4. Why did you choose to join Team Angst/Team Romance?
I am an angst whore, plain and simple. Even my PWPs have angst in them, and it's rare--try impossible--for me to write something that doesn't have even a little bit of angst. Frankly, as a writer, I'm just better at it. I've written giant sweeping romance epics, but they had their fair share of angst, because I think it's also realistic. I don't think everything is hearts and bunnies, and one of the things I think is so striking about John and Rodney is their potential for the darker side of things, the way they have this capability to be rather self-destructive, addictive; they can break each other apart and know they're doing it and that's a large part of what I want to read and write.
I write a lot of kink, and while kink and angst don't have to go together, I think that they very easily can. One of my big soapbox issues is the psychology of kink and how it's so vital, and I think the reasons people choose to get involved in a BDSM relationship, to whatever degree, are incredibly important. That need for control or that need for surrender lends itself very easily to angst.
5. Where can interested readers find more of your work?
My Firefly fic is on my
website. However, that hasn't been updated in a very long time, so most of my NCIS and SGA is on my LJ.
