I really liked the voices in this story--distinctive and appropriate for Rodney and John especially. And this carries over into the rhythms of their thoughts: the ways in which they each have self revelations about their feelings for each other ( ". . . that John loved. That he loved." and Rodney's "Oh . . . I didn't. When did this happen?"). Teyla's support as John searches for answers and Ronon's astute observation that Rodney would leave Atlantis to protect others were other character elements that rounded off this story of Ancient-tech triggered crisis.

This was all kinds of awesome! I have always loved fics that explore the hidden selflessness that is Rodney. He may a narcissistic asshole most of the time, but when it comes to the lives of his TEAM and Atlantis, Rodney is willing to sacrifice his well being. And, John is there to prevent that at all costs. Loved it!

These are a lot of 'what - if ' scenarios! And all the decisions (we) they make lead to even more decision good and bad. I think it was was great idea that John went back to that planet to find out for himself how the future would chance when the parameters changed. And I'm glad he was able to convince Rodney to stay on Atlantis.

I really, really like this. It's fascinating to think about how things might have gone had certain people not joined the expedition - but sad as well. I think no matter who went and who stayed, however, there would be people dying. Pegasus is so dangerous; for every life they lost - Peter, Ford, etc. - there are so many they saved. I'm glad John convinced Rodney to stay - I half expected him to say if Rodney leaves, so will he. Poor Rodney though :( Learning of the possibilities must have been so painful. I love that everyone thought something was wrong when Rodney declared they would have been better off without him and then resigned; it speaks a lot about Rodney's character. Rodney loves Atlantis. I also really like how John had Carson give it a go~ The what-ifs you presented here were interesting. I wonder how Teyla would feel she learned of a scenario where they never met her, or at the very least she never joined forces with them. Anyway, this is a really great fic :D
