Interview: my_scheherazade

This will be brief, so I apologize in advance. I got called into work and have to throw this together in a dash.
  1. What was your first fandom?

Lord of the Rings. It was my first love, and I'm pretty excited that, with The Hobbit movies coming soon, the fandom will be active again (though, in a slightly different form.)

2. How did you get into writing fanfic/creating fanart?

I got into fandom when I was about 14, so I started by writing some truly godawful mary-sues and "comedy" fics.

Then I started doing fan art when I went to art school and I wanted to work on something that wasn't school related. After that I've been using it to practice my figure drawing. I'd gone to school for design, so I can draw anything man-made with scale accuracy, but I never learned how to draw people, or anything more organic. Fan art has helped me improve in that area a lot (though I'm still far from great.)

3. Is SGA your main squeeze, or are you poly-fandom-ous?

SGA is my favorite fandom, but I'm also getting into Sherlock Holmes, and I spent a brief, but terrifying time in the Glee (klaine) fandom.

4. What makes John and Rodney such an inspiring couple for you?

They're both horribly damaged in their own way. They fight, they snark, they're terrible with emotion, but at the end of the day, they know they can rely on each other 100%. Rodney tries to be a stronger person for John, and John lets his walls down enough around Rodney to have a genuine human connection. Their dysfunction is interesting, because it's the most functional dynamic these characters could hope for.

5. Who's your favorite, John or Rodney (or both)? How come?

John. He's one of those characters that I sort of over-identify with.

6. Where can people find more of your work (McShep or otherwise)?

Well, this is my fandom LJ, so it's all on here, and it's almost all McShep too. I also have some stuff over on my DeviantArt account.

7. Pick a piece/story of yours that stands out for you. Give us links and tell us why!

My favorite story is still " Wake," the story I did for McShep Match two years ago for Team War.

My favorite fanart piece is "Good Morning," and I'm really enjoying this SGA Tarot project I'm working on, though admittedly, a lot of that hasn't made it online since I've been without a scanner for the last several months.

Also, I have an SGA discussion podcast called The Lost City, as well. We're doing episode by episode discussions of all of Stargate Atlantis.
