Aw, this was a fun, in-depth interview--I love the comment fic inserted here--perfect! I also love getting a little peek into that writerly brain of yours.
But the part I liked best? THIS.
I've tried my hand at a few others (Numb3rs, Oz, Potter, Quiz Show) and enjoyed the experience of writing a different character in a different genre, but I always seem to come home to SGA. It's where my inspiration lies and it always makes me quite sad to hear rumblings of SGA being a dead fandom where no good fic exists any longer.
I keep coming back to them as well--in all their forms. I think they still have so much to say to me, so much to teach me. And I keep coming back to them for inspiration as well. I don't think fandom is dead. I think it used to be a very densely populated forest and there's been some clearcutting--but that just means there's room for new growth to flourish. :-)
(we won't discuss that long stretch in between where I was not becoming a writer) (okay, this bit made me chuckle)
I began to get story ideas of my own I love it when that just happens. That's when I knew I actually had to start watching SGA. I couldn't stop thinking up new stories about them.

I know that it's not the avalanche of stuff every day that we got when the show was still running, but I have yet to see an sga_newsletter that says, "Sorry, nothing to post for today."
In canon, the relationship seems to be a heart-wrenching, unrequited love story underlying a one-of-a-kind friendship Waaah, yes! And I love John so much that I have to make it better for him.
and a more updated archive at neeve_fic on AO3 I seriously admire, how organized you all are.

The most important in this post is obviously "why are you so awesome?" I am glad that Melagan asked it.
Re John and Rodney in a bar: Go John! He has the right priorities. ;)
