How long have you been creating fan art or writing fan fiction?
I posted a couple of stories to ff.net back in '05, but I didn't get seriously into fandom until I discovered livejournal about two years ago.
What drew you into fandom in the first place?
As a child whenever I found characters that I really loved, I often found myself daydreaming about how an episode might have gone differently or what might happen if characters from a different show met. Back then it was like 'What if Voltron showed up to help Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors' but one night I was obsessing about how much I hated that Jack and Sam (Without a Trace) had had an adulterous affair and I began imagining Jack finding out about Sam and Martin and suddenly it occurred to me that what I was imagining was fanfiction - just like the stuff I read on the internet. I blame my failure to notice earlier on the fact that I'd never read any WAT fanfiction before (or, truthfully since.) I love that there's an outlet for letting all my imaginings out.
Best thing about SGA fandom: go!
Shallow answer is David Hewlett. ^_^
But...
The variety. Even if you only read McShep there's so much out there and it's all wonderful! Everyone is so creative and talented and open to new ideas. You can find the darkest, angstiest fic you can imagine where everyone dies slowly and alone and then follow it up immediately with, I don't know, John as a decorative shower curtain, paired with Rodney the sensible plastic shower liner. (Please someone tell me that fic exists!)
Are you a fandom monogamist or do you participate in other fandoms? Which ones?
I'm an OTP monogamist, but I'm very poly when it comes to fandoms. I'm most involved in Power Rangers, SG-1, SGA, and (although not as much anymore) House. I've also written one-shots in Buffy and SPN. And I have several others that I read in regularly or sporadically depending on my mood (Merlin, Glee, White Collar, etc)
Best thing about McKay/Sheppard: go!
So not a fair question. I love everything about McShep. The actors themselves have such great chemistry, the banter and affection is awesome, and I swear they play it up. If JF wasn't deliberately playing John as pining for McKay then he had some kind of serious mancrush on DH. Or both. Not that I blame him either way.
Why did you decide to participate in McShep Match?
I love reading the McShep Match every year and it seemed like a lot of fun.
PS - It is!
And how did you choose Team Work/Play?
It was no contest really. Playing is fun and a better fit for the type of fic I prefer to write.
Best thing about your contribution to this year's Match: go!
Playing with the boys and watching them play with each other.
Where can interested readers/viewers find more of your work?
SGA masterlist on LJ and
SGA masterlist on DW will take you directly to SGA, but scrolling up or down will give you my fic in other fandoms as well.
A word to our sponsors?
I didn't say so in the original sign-up, but I'd be more than happy to take any other questions.
