How long have you been creating fan art or writing fan fiction?
I'm a newbie. First discovered it 2 years ago, and completely obsessed since.
What drew you into fandom in the first place?
I fell into the wormhole via Twilight, which is kinda embarassing now because I'm so far past being a 14 year old girl it doean't bear thinking about. But it seemed to hit all my latent adolescent romance buttons and I started to search for more things after I finished the books. That's when I found that there was all this stuff out there, and websites, and wow! Ceased sleeping and watching TV, and just read and wrote fanfic! I'd always loved to write and do art, but RL and work had dragged me down and I'd buried that creativity until I discovered fanfiction. So hey - way to have a mid-life crisis!
Best thing about SGA fandom: go!
The huge variety and the quality of the writing and art. The community is great, and I love that even though I've come to it late when the series has finished, there's still an active fanbase.
Are you a fandom monogamist or do you participate in other fandoms? Which ones?
After initiation via my Twilight and Pob Pattinson obsession, I discovered Harry Potter slash (Cedric/Harry, then Sirius/Remus and Harry /Draco) and then slavefic and from there, stumbled across
resonant8's
Advantage, and was immediately seduced away into SGA. Full-on fascination, read everything out there, no sleep again. These days I also read SG-1, also had a big Due South stage as a lot of my favourite writers went through a DS phase. Recently, I also read Leverage and White Collar, and some Trek, esp. reboot. Also Mythbusters and Sherlock Holmes, and 'Breakfast with Scot', but there's only about 2 BwS fics out there. I wrote Twilight then Harry Potter, currently write in SGA mostly, a little Mythbusters and Sherlock Holmes. Also one RPF fic about my parents (what? I can be a fan of them if I want to!)
Best thing about McKay/Sheppard: go!
Their versatility. Some characters in fandoms are always written in the same way, but the variety with John and Rodney is huge. Rodney can be a (funny) neurotic mess, or a masterul dom. John can be a ruthless and responsible military commander, or a campy doofus. If the writing's good, it all works. I love it.
Why did you decide to participate in McShep Match?
I'd been out of the comms and missed a chunk of my flist postings due to work and RL hassles, so wanted to get more involved again. And I enjoyed reading the entries last year.
And how did you choose Team Work/Play?
Er, I was way too disorganised to sign on in time, but I lucked into a slot in Team Play as an extra. I'd have wanted Team Play anyway, after doing some "Play" icons. Jeez - I had no idea you more or less had to queue up and sleep on the sidewalk so as to get in at sign-up - like getting rock concert tickets!
Best thing about your contribution to this year's Match: go! (Remember to keep your answer vague, please!)
It's soft outside, with a slightly serious centre. Kind of like the opposite of a jelly donut, but less messy to consume. Plus it's amusing, I hope.
Where can interested readers/viewers find more of your work?
Ao3 is probably the easiest, as that's all writing focussed. It's also on my LJ or DW, mixed in with art and podfics.
A word to our sponsors?
Thanks so much for letting me play!
