Hi there! leah k here, and if you've been around long enough to know there's been another Leah around the SGA fandom, I'm the one without capitalization and I've never written a story about penguins.
How long have you been writing fan fiction?
I started writing horrible Sailor Moon Mary Sue fic in the eight grade, which was, heh, ten years ago. I didn't get involved in Fandom until about a year later when I discovered slash, joined the old hp_slash mailing list, and started posting my fic where strangers could read it.
Have you participated in any other fandoms?
I've read more fandoms than I've written, but I've put together a few stories in a few different places: I started with Sailor Moon, moved to Harry Potter and Buffy, and had a brief (but oddly prolific) romance with the WB show Everwood before settling down with SGA these last three years. I've been recently flirting with Heroes and Doctor Who, but I'm not sure if either one is going to turn into a serious, lasting relationship.
What do you enjoy most about SGA and/or SGA fandom?
The easy answer is: Rodney McKay. I only really started watching SGA in the first place because I loved Rodney from his few appearances on SG-1 and thought he was funny and brilliant and I wanted to see more of him. And then I fell in love with the show for being completely adorable and completely ridiculous (whales! warning people about solar flares!) and just the sort of absurd science fiction you need when you've been raised on Star Trek. I love the SGA fandom because you can write a story where, you know, people get super powers from allergies and nobody thinks you're crazy, because everybody's crazy here anyway.
Why did you choose to join Team Romance?
Every time I try to write angst it comes out sort of, hm, wrong and bad and awkward? Or, well, it comes out too atmospheric and then I'm convinced that human beings don't actually act that way and I end up having my characters make a lot of stupid jokes. The two things I write best are humor and fighting, so, obviously, I'm fated for a long career of writing romantic comedies.
Actually, I don't really write much that qualifies as either true angst or true romance, and I'm trying to push myself into a bit of a challenge.
Where can interested readers find more of your work?
All my SGA and Everwood fic, Yuletide stories, and random snippets are at my fic journal:
I [heart] Entropy. My old (terrible) Harry Potter stories are on fanfiction.net under the name "leah-chan," though I'd be hideously embarrassed to learn that anyone was still reading them.
