Drabble for "Competition" Challenge

Title: Again

Summary: Rodney doesn't understand why the women he's interested in keep getting taken by John

He likes the notice
coming from a lovely blonde,
taken as his due.

They talk of science,
she understands and admires,
obviously flirts.

Batting her lashes,
standing close, touching his arm,
she’s focused on him.

Suddenly she’s gone,
drawn into Sheppard’s orbit
by a clever smirk.

He’s angry, then hurt.
Both at her for going, him
for taking. Again.

When the evening ends,
she leaves alone and wistful,
John and his smirk, gone.

He looks for John, then,
wanting to know why he took,
if he didn’t want.

At confrontation,
John denies, nothing happened,
I didn’t want her.

Then why? Why again?
John looks away, stays silent.
A faint blush appears.

Oh. You idiot.
Rodney strokes John’s face lightly,
then gently kisses.

The kisses heat up,
and they’re the only answer
either of them need.
