I believe I can fly...

As I mentioned in my last post...last week was my first-ever business trip. Along with a co-worker, I flew down to Fort Smith, Arkansas, home of one of Whirlpool’s biggest plants. (The other two major plants in the States are here in Evansville - which is where I work - and in Benton Harbor, Michigan.) We flew down Tuesday morning and returned to ( Read more... )

You should come to the Benton Harbor plant next, so we can visit you!

I should be up there at some point, before the end of the year. There's going to be some sort of safety conference that I'll need to attend. Not sure when it'll be though. Last I heard, they were looking at September. We'll see...

I keep forgetting that you work for Whirlpool now. My dad used to work there... about 30 years ago or so. If there are any old timers there, you should ask them if they know Dave Wood. If nothing else, there'll probably be some who know him from elsewhere. I think I remember actually going by the plant for some sort of Halloween thing when I was really young (pure guess 6 or so).

Your business trip sounds really cool - free food ALWAYS tastes better. Heck, nowadays, I'm even happy with "free" food that's included with a hotel stay or something. Great food at Space Camp. Oh - and you were really impressed with the bathroom? You're just used to men's bathrooms. There are a lot of women's bathrooms around that are that nice ;-)

Go FLAMES GO!!!!

Hell yeah, Go Flames Go. :)

I don't really talk to any of the old-timers...all of the engineers I work with are younger. What did your dad do when he worked here?

Free is good. So are clean bathrooms. And, as you said, clean bathrooms are a rarity for men. Hehe...

I'm honestly not sure - not engineering, I know. I'd guess that it had something to do with the business end. He had his own name block (whatever you call those wooden things you put on your desk) - that's about all I know. :-)

Well...that narrows it down to about 400 people. Hehe...this place is huge, and I'm only now getting to where I recognize more than a dozen or so people. I could just put out a notice in the newsletter...

"Attention: If you knew Kim's dad, call me so we can confirm that one of you old farts remembers him."

What can I say. Pete's, Re-Pete's, plush airports, beautiful scenery. The greatness of this state is a big secret, lol. Don't go posting it in your LJ! *shh*
