Home Equals

For Rodney, home these days equals three simple things.

It's kissing John to sleep; slow, lingering touches, lips clinging softly until John's mouth slowly goes lax against his own, John's breathing evening out until it's coming deep and steady, warm puffs of air into Rodney's mouth that will make him smile and leave John to his dreams with a final kiss.

It's letting himself be kissed awake, lips sluggishly responding to John's before he's even half-aware, feeling John's smile curve against his mouth before he manages to peel his eyes open enough to look up into John's, meeting a gaze that's warm and sleep-soft and fond.

It's John, plain and simple, the whole brave, dorky package of him. And he's not… grateful, exactly, because he gives as much as he receives thus is above simpering gratitude. But he's happy, truly content, and that's more than he ever expected to have.

So he kisses, lets himself be kissed, and is home.
