Thank you, this was very sweet and hilarious at once... and Rodney's conclusions clearly need some work!

I find this version of Rodney 100% believable: he tried to use science! he did! but there's nothing that dooms an experiment like looking at the wrong variables.
In my mind, I shall link this Rodney up with the incarnation from "A Farm in Iowa", whose Big Gay Freakout came because he felt *stupid* -- the worst of feelings, for him. This Rodney might be like that too, might self-sabotage because he'd been so *dumb* all those years, just assuming he was straight.
Wonderful, excellent! I really need to make a fireworks icon.

I hadn't thought of Iowa Rodney in relation to this one, but you're right, it's definitely the same sort of blindness and epiphany. I have some pretty clear ideas about what will happen the next morning for these two, and neither of them is going to be anything like as relaxed as they are right now. I don't think this Rodney will have a Big Gay Freakout, exactly, but once he really starts to think about how lacking in self-awareness he's been, he's not going to be too happy. And then, of course, there's the novel experience of actually wanting to kiss someone and trying to stop himself from doing it too much. ;-)

I have another story to write that is promised to someone and has been held up by RL getting in the way for the past few months, but now I'm back in a writing phase I should be able to do both. I'd like to do both, anyway. Once Rodney gets stuck in your head, he's hard to shift!

ETA - Sorry, I only just saw that this is mcsmooch I came in via the SGA Newsletter. Obviously no John/Rodney in the summary is needed - it should be an assumption ;)
