Summary: Some things you don't say. Others you do.
John scratched his belly and yawned, shuffling towards the door where Rodney was almost ready to go, tucking his shirt in his pants.
"I will never understand why you insist on not having a coffee maker in your room," he was bitching, predictable like clockwork. "Coffee! Magically ready at a predetermined time!"
"My room, my rules," John said, snaking an arm around Rodney's waist to pull him close. John would never admit that it was because he was afraid Rodney would get out of bed earlier, if he had the incentive.
"Your rules suck, Sheppard," Rodney said, though he was losing heat already. He smiled and passed a hand in John's hair.
"You look even more ridiculous with bed hair. Who would have thought?"
John felt the silent tug of someone coming closer in the corridor, most probably Lorne. That's another little something that he had always kept for himself, how in Atlantis he could feel the specific vibes of the ATA carriers when they were close enough.
"Don't lie, you love it. And you know my other rule, Rodney," John said, grinning.
Rolling his eyes, Rodney dutifully recited:
"No leaving without a kiss first. I know, you big sap," he said before taking John's face in both of his hands and kissing him, slow and sweet. He could pretend otherwise, but John knew Rodney loved that rule as much as he did.
At the precise moment the ATA carrier was at his door, John put a hand on Rodney's neck to keep him where he was and he opened the door with a thought. It was Lorne indeed, who sidestepped in surprise but rapidly got over it. Rodney jerked back, and John, still holding him close with his arm, smiled at his second in command.
"Major," he said with a nod.
"Good morning Sir," Lorne said with a half smile, and then nodded at Rodney. "Doctor," he added before continuing his way.
Satisfied, John closed the door. After gaping for a second, Rodney frowned at him.
"You planned that, didn't you?"
John shrugged.
"Yeah. Some things don't have to be secrets anymore," he said before starting to manhandle Rodney towards the bed.
Hopefully, coffee was out of Rodney's mind for the moment.
