This morning a passenger in a moving vehicle threw a bottle at me while I was waiting for a bus. They were going about 40mph and they narrowly missed my left arm. They yelled something or other, but whatever life lesson they wanted me to take away from the experience was lost to traffic noise and Doppler effect ( Read more... )

That's horrible. Too bad you didn't get a shot at their license plate.

I get honked at or yelled at too, sometimes, when I'm walking or biking somewhere. I noticed it's almost always when I'm in Westminster and not in Boulder, so I can't even blame it on the damn college kids. Maybe people in the suburbs just can't mentally handle seeing someone not being properly American and driving an enormous, stupid car. -.-

Though sometimes in fits of paranoia, I wonder if it's because I'm a woman of a certain size. Some asshole in an SUV mooed at me once, literally. I don't know how often this happens to men.

Yeah. When I DO understand what people yell, it's usually helpful suggestions about Weight Watchers and the like which I appreciate SO much more than I can say, but I suspect that the ones who must yell would yell about something else if they couldn't yell about how much of their view we obstruct. :p
