Vernon was working late at the office, and Petunia was beginning to worry.
Dusting the mantlepiece she heard a knocking at the door. There's a perfectly good bell. Outside was a greasy, robed, and faintly familiar gentleman. Shortly he was explaining his business over a cup of tea.
"You're worrying, Petunia. That he might leave, perhaps?"
She nodded, wondering how this familiar stranger knew.
"An efficacious Love Potion... in exchange for a simple promise..."
Another nod.
"...whenever anything unusual happens around Harry you'll tell me."
"Whatever... yes... I promise."
And he was gone, only a signed vial betraying his visit.

Very very good! I was actually discussing Petunia's knowledge of the wizarding world with someone earlier... This idea didn't come up, but it's interesting and plausible... The drabble format works really well here, keeps it very clean and simple and minimalist. :)

Ooooh, very nice. I love that Petunia is willing to use magic when it's to her advantage. This one opens up a whole realm of possibilities about why she remains so bitter! Thank you!
