Sometimes, Regulus is thankful that he's trapped in a cat's body--it's natural, for example, for a cat to regard any room it enters as an ancestral home; it's natural for a cat to stride the halls with haughty superiority, and to curl up in a proprietary manner on the laps of the inhabitants to demand a tribute of slow, even strokes on his fur.

It's easier to accept that this is his ancestral home, albeit muffled in dust.

It's easier to arch his back into the slow, comforting strokes that he'd missed after Sirius had turned away from him.
