The Potters were first on the scene when the Dark Mark appeared over Marlene McKinnon's house. They found her five-year-old son sprawled on the hearth, Floo powder scattered on the floor around him. Her mother lay in the doorway to the kitchen, blood drying in her gray hair. Marlene leaned stiffly against the table, wand held out and dead eyes still staring.
"Finite incantatem," whispered Lily, and the body sagged into her embrace. She knelt and arranged the heavy limbs on the floor, then curled her hands around her friend's face. She said goodbye to what was and what would never be. And she closed the staring eyes and stood up.
"Sweetheart," James said, wrapping an arm around her waist, "for Harry's sake, please...it's time we took Dumbledore's advice. The Fidelius."
You're welcome! I couldn't really think of any Lily femslash that wouldn't be sad or troubled in the end, at least not that I could do as a drabble. I'm glad of what you said about the corpse, because I had a very clear mental image of the scene, but I wasn't sure how well I'd conveyed it. :D
I have trouble imagining Lily with another woman without a lot of backstory. So it had to be something unrequited, even unacknowledged--then I started looking for women Lily knew in the Order. I wanted it to be Alice Longbottom originally, but I forgot that she was tortured after Lily was killed.

She nodded.
