Ginny crept through the dank tunnels, protective spells glowing around her. Neville and Hermione were behind her, watching for Voldemort's traps and creatures, keeping the shields strong. Ahead, a faint glimmer appeared in the tunnel, and Ginny gestured to her companions to stay back. She edged forward and the glimmer resolved into matted silver hair, framing the face of months-dead Gabrielle Delacour.

Gabrielle lurched towards Ginny, but Ginny's shout of "Mobilicorpus" knocked her backwards, to lie paralysed in midair. Ginny bent over Gabrielle's twitching body, kissing her gently on her rotting cheek, then retreated, her face rigid with anger.

"Incendio."

Eargh, I just happened to be in the act of swallowing my tea while I read this. I probably deserve it, though--my drabble is similarly pseudo-necro-femslash...

Now that I read it again, sans tea, I really rather like it! Especially the phrase 'face rigid with anger'; paired with the kiss it is a powerful and satisfying reaction.

Sorry about your tea! I think lots of recent stories have been about casualties of war - I'm not sure if fandom is reacting to current real world events, or just bracing ourselves for Book Seven.

No, I didn't read your userinfo - in fact, I am deathly afraid of zombies, and have no idea why this drabble went to the Bad Zombie Place! There were lots of other ways for that nice, open request to go, so of course it went to the one place guaranteed to give me nightmares...

Ooh, then it was quite an interesting coincidence that this drabble came to perhaps the one person in this drabblethon who would be into such things... I love zombies, and horror movies in general. Even my username was inspired by a horror film, Poltergeist. Hope you didn't have too many nightmares, as I loved the drabble!

Oh. That managed to give me the heebie-jeebies, while at the same time being incredibly sweet and heartbreaking. Excellent job.
