Recipient: novembersnow
Prompt: Snape realizes the significance of his Patronus (can be canonical or non-canonical)
Word Count: 100 words
Rating: PG

The first time Severus successfully cast a corporeal Patronus, he was a twenty-six year old Master of Potions, and Professor at Hogwarts.

He had never been lonelier in his life.

Dumbledore had been teaching him to use the communication method Order members preferred, and when Severus finally accomplished the form, it was no surprise to him that it resembled Lily's own.

After nearly a half decade of self-imposed misery, Severus had been finally able to evoke a happy memory featuring Lily; an innocent, sun-tangled childhood scene, untainted by the tragedy of her death.

The irony was not lost on him.

Very nicely done AND you made it proper drabble. (Unlike some other people *cough* who have no concept of 'concise' *coughhack* :-P)

While I still balk at the idea that Snape was motivated through 20ish years of hell by unrequited love, you've made me see him... practicing his Patronus and pining. Bravo!

I don't think that of him, either, but I do think of him as lonely and obsessive, always clinging to the things he's lost. The reason for it being 'lost' is sometimes blurred for him as the years and the pain grow long. *nods* Thank you!
