"Excuse me..."

Hermione turned away from the stairs in Bathilda's house to see a very pretty young girl of thirteen or fourteen. She had light brown curly hair--the sort that Hermione herself had always wished she possessed, instead of her own uncontrollable bushy locks--and, despite the fact that she was grasping a wand in one hand, she was dressed in Muggle fashion--jeans, which were practical for mid-winter, and a thin pink hooded jacket, which could have done with less pink and more padding, in Hermione's opinion.

She was also holding a Time-Turner.

"Who are you?" Hermione whispered. "Where did you get that? There aren't supposed to be any left!"

The girl looked dreadfully confused. "I don't think that's the real problem here," she said carefully. "Who are you?"

It didn't even occur to Hermione to lie. "Hermione Granger!"

The girl frowned. "Something's very wrong here. I'm Hermione Granger ( ... )
