Recipient: ctorres
Prompt:- Hermione/any professor, lessons outside of class
Hermione is prepared to cheat for the right cause - Ron, Harry, her parents, or bringing down Voldemort - but she disapproves of Harry’s obsession with the Half-Blood-Prince’s potions book.
He could at least leave the unglamorous role of brains to her.
But it’s more fundamental than that.

Knowledge should be hard won and worked for, valued because of the effort, and not just absorbed secondhand at the feet of a master.

The Prince surely worked for that brilliance.

She has to hope that’s the case, because the alternative is that hard work won’t always take her where she needs to be.

Oh wow, that's a hard lesson to learn. Here's hoping she feels vindicated by the Sectumsempra incident later.

Brilliant take on the prompt-- a frightening realisation for Hermione, indeed.

Oooo, loved the bite of that last line. The swot's insecurity.

And the fear that she doesn't really belong in this world after all. Poor thing.

So true, not everyone is looking for the quick fix or the easy money, and it must be hard for those who don't watching those who do. Nicely done!

The scholar's lament, I think.

Thank you.

This is very true - Hermione was so angry about that book, and it really wasn't because Harry was doing so well. It undermined her entire world view.

Yes, I think it did. Her world view, what her place was in that world, what she was there to be. I think that was very hard time for her.
