Thorns in the Mæster
It had been less than three days since Mæster had seen the two mercenaries that he had hired. Three long days. He was beginning to worry that the two of them were up to the challenge that they had wanted him to assign them. He was pacing back and forth in his office when there was three knocks on his office door and it opened. His daughter peaked her head into his office with a confused look on her face. "Father, there are two men here to see you."
He paused his pacing and looked at him with an odd look before replacing it with a kind look and a smile. "Let them in, dear. They have an appointment." Adele gave him a piercing look before nodding his head and stepped aside to let the men in. After the men had entered the room, she shut the door firmly and walked back to the front desk.
Mæster Chamberlayn motioned to the two mercenaries to take a seat down in the chairs they had sat in a few days prior to their current visit as he slowly sat down in his own chair. "Not a good thing coming here today," he said to the mercenaries. "Not a very good day. My daughter is already suspicious of my recent...activities." He shook his head slightly and sighed. "What is your reason of coming here today."
The two of them waited until the Mæster was firmly in his chair before they sat down in the guest seats in front of the desk. "We need the gold hawk bits sooner than we said that we need them," Creed said, a smirk on his face but the smirk never reached past his lips.
Mæster Chamberlayn shuddered slightly at the smirk. It felt wrong for the mercenary to put on a fake smile for anyone, least of all him. "Is there a reason why you need the hawk bits sooner?"
Creed nodded his head slowly at the Mæster. "I have a plan on flushing out the target. But in order for us to go through with it, we need the hawk bits within the next two days."
Creed nodded his head slowly at the Mæster. "I have a plan on flushing out the target. But in order for us to go through with it, we need the hawk bits within the next two days."
Mæster Chamberlayn chewed on his bottom lip, deep in thought. What was he to do. He had figured that he had until the next full moon. He had almost gotten half of the hawk bits that they required and yet they needed it sooner than they had told him. He sighed and shook his head at them. "I will try. If I only have three-quarters of the hawk bits then that is what you shall take. The rest will be given later if I cannot get the entire amount."
Creed nodded his head at the Mæster. “That pleases me. At least you can guarentee that you will have at least three-quarters of the hawk bits in your possession by the time that we require it. Also, the meeting place hasn't changed-only the date. Make sure to have the three-quarters by the new date.” An evil glint flashed over the mercenary's eyes and he stood up. Hashim hastily followed Creed as he stood up and the two of them departed from the Mæster's office. Mæster Chamberlayn sighed and rubbed his temples. It looked like a long two days for him to get the money to the mercenaries in time.
