To be fair, the decision whether or not to attend college isn't really the same as, say, "should I eat a donut today or maybe have a bowl of cheerios?" I'd say that particular choice is up there with other major life events such as, "Should I get married?" "Do I want to have children?" or "Should I join the military?"
Chris is right about that one. It's not generally something you decide randomly. I only went because my parents really thought it was a good idea and I have little desire to do anything else at that particular moment in my life. My brother did not but does very well for himself financially. My sister nearly has her two year degree but may never get her Bachelors. It's a somewhat daunting and sometimes seemingless impossible task with no immediately visible outcome.
So yes, definately up there with "Should I keep the child I accidentally became pregnant with knowing it will impact my entire life either way? (most probably))
