Thursday: Worked, picked up last minute groceries, and went home to cook dinner for Todd's aunt and her husband (not Todd's uncle, they got a divorce about 15 years ago). Dinner was really nice but his aunt is a little too into herself and her looks. She turned 60 last year and has always been and continues to be very beautiful. Tall, very, very thin, blond, great style, etc. She is very nice to me and always has complimentary things to say about us, our house, our entertaining, etc. but she tends to always direct the conversation back to how pretty she is, how well she can entertain, who many men want to sleep with her (seriously, her husband just sits there and continues to eat and drink like she is talking about the weather). She got a little tipsy on wine and started telling Todd and I stories about her wild days of doing local theater work and see got a wee bit graphic. Let's just say Todd can never again hear the name of a certain Yankees player from the 80's again. Ick.
Friday: Worked as usual, went home, changed, and we went to our friend's house for Couples Poker Night Round #2. Pizza, beer, and Texas Hold 'em - good times. Todd finished 3rd again (let's not talk about where my sorry azz finished, mkay?) but we decided at the beginning of the night to only pay out to the 1st and 2nd place winners. He was bummed. Made it home at 2:30 a.m. and passed out from the beer.
Saturday: Snow day!! We slept in really late, made a big breakfast, and just putzed around while it snowed like crazy. I was reading for a while (The Poisonwood Bible - so, so good) and then decided that I needed a nap. Damn, I am lazy but what else was there to do since it was still snowing a ton. Decided around 5 that it had snowed too much to keep our plans for dinner in Northern Virginia with friends so we had to cancel. Boo, this particular group of friends is always hard to coordinate so now I don't know when we will all get the chance to get together again soon. Called a friend who lives about 2 miles away and we decided to get together for dinner and game night since we all had cabin fever. I made beef stroganoff (with creme fraiche, yum!) and mini corn muffins and she made spinach salad and chocolate chip cookies and we just had a great, relaxing night of dinner, wine, and we played Scene It. Boys against girls and the boys squeaked out a win both times. Biotches. My friend and her husband have been doing major remodeling of their new house and the latest project was a total kitchen remodel. I mean total. They ended up with gorgeous wood floors, maple cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and beautiful granite in taupes, golds, and blacks. It looks so great. Made it home around 2 a.m. and again slept reallllly well due to the wine.
Sunday: Brrrrrr! Damn, it was cold and we ended up with about 7-8 inches. Slept in late again, made breakfast, finished The Poisonwood Bible, and then went out to run errands. Went to Champps to watch the Pats kill the Steelers. I was very surprised at how badly Pittsburgh lost. More drinks and some yummy spinach artichoke dip.
Ah, what a nice lazy weekend. Although I am really, really over the cold and snow it does tend to slow us down a bit which is nice.
