Okay, I know a bunch of you are Hawaii experts and I that is where Todd and I have decided to take our summer vacation. I have heard the advice to get Maui Revealed and it is on the way from Amazon. We are using United FF miles and it looks like I can get flights into and out of Maui (OGG I think is the airport - is that okay?) for mid July. ( Read more... )

There's a ton of posts from girsl a few pages back in my journal about Maui. We are going to September!!! We are looking at Wailea area of Maui. Four Seasons or Fairmont or Grant Waleia most likely. Good luck!

We stayed at the Four Seasons and I can't recommend it enough. It is absolutely fantastic! Just FYI. :)

We stayed at and got married at the Fairmont Kea Lani and I am absolutely in love with that hotel. Everything about it was perfect - from the room (amazing bathroom!) to the pool, to the staff.

We stayed in the Wailea part of Maui, so I am biased to there. However, I thought of staying in/near Lahaina, and I looked at the Hyatt. I found good packages there via Orbitz (I think?) and AA Vacations (maybe United has something similar?). Ditto on good pkgs at the Ritz. We stayed 5 nights in Maui, and if I were splitting with another relaxing place, I think that would be plenty. Since we had to go home after that, I could have used at least 2 more days to relax. ;)

If I were doing Maui/Kauai, I would probably do 5 nights Maui, 5 or 6 nights Kauai - but I am a very relaxed and laid back vacationer, meaning I'd rather lie on the beach than go hiking anyday. My husband was disappointed with how commercialized Maui was (he was expecting a more lush tropical paradise, I believe), so if you think that will bother you, it's something to keep in mind. However, there are a lot of fab-u-lous restaurants on Maui, so you may want to keep that in mind also. Absolutely do not miss Spago and Nick's Fishmarket (both in Wailea)!

Hey S!

I have no advice to give, but wanted to see how long you're going for??? Mark, Gabby and I are taking our first family vacation to Hawaii the first week of August... will you still be there? I believe we're going to Kona.

We used Priceline for Maui and got the Sheraton. Somehow we got upgraded to a super swank suite, and it was awesome. We loved the Sheraton's location and beach.
