I played for 2 hours and got through the Volcanic Island and the Seashore Cave. I am on level 19 for everyone now but can't find a mana stone yet to class change. I'm at a part now where you can go to the four mana stones in any order. I HATE when games get non linear usually, so hopefully I'll stick this out ( Read more... )

Yes, I only noticed the village the second time through, myself. :P Even so, I got killed twice more even after finding the village, the Cockatrices are nasty business either way. Good news is that once you get through (and you don't have to fight that many), the Seashore Cave is easier and the enemies there give double the exp.

Get your promotions, though. You need those. You may even want to hop back to Forcena right after you've got them, as he can buy shields there which Duran can equip, assuming you made him a Knight.

As for the mana stones, I just picked the order the king presented them in to maintain a semblance of linearity. Went to Altena for Undine first, then to the desert for Salamando. Had no problems doing it in that order - Altena was tough but that's because I got myself promoted there (was only lvl 17 when I arrived). In your case, you should definitely visit a different mana stone first.

One you don't have to fight for, I mean. The wind one at Rolante, for instance. I need to think out a post entirely before hitting the submit button.

I got Salamando first because that's where I randomly ended up going. I just kind of drift around when the game becomes non linear. I am going to the snowfield one next.

Beating the two ex-friends without a class change was tough. But I did get promoted at the 5th mana stone. The characters DO get a lot more powerful, yeah.
