The funny part is, with the most complicated magic seal, I actually found that scribbling a vague approximation registers as the right thing.

If you haven't played PoR yet, I do recommend that one - no magic seals and only one mode requires the stylus (the easiest and shortest mode, I might add - the Sisters mode). :)

You get used to them, but I'd agree they add little but frustration especially if you're not handy with the stylus (I know I'm not).

As siara pointed out, Portrait of Ruin is free of needless stylus work - it only has an optional postgame mode that relies on it.
