Have you found Sharon Shinn yet? I'm in the middle of a book by her (Mystic and Rider) that was recommended to me by a very reliable friend - and it's great. Very addictive, fun, high fantasy.

I felt about the same about the ender's series. Xenocide was painful to get through. I did it but I can't for the life of me understand why. I've heard great things about Ender's Shadow, and the rest of the Bean series, but at this point I am so disillusioned with Orson Scott Card as a person that I can't bear to read anything else that he wrote.
In other news, after years and years of talking about it, the Ender's Game movie is finally in production. They announced the person cast as Ender just like 2 weeks ago. They are apparently making a combination Ender's Game/Ender's Shadow movie, and calling it Ender's Game. I am really excited to see how badly they destroy my favorite book.
