Looking for a camera

Considering my lack of a good camera coupled with the fact that I'm going to Seoul in 3 weeks, I've decided to purchase a camera. I need a lot of advice, I don't know if I want to go for something like the Canon PowerShot S100 or the Sony DSC-RX100, or if I want to go for something a bit heftier like the Sony SLT-A57My reasons for the cameras are ( Read more... )

Thanks for the advice, I think the micro 4/3 category is the sweet spot for me for quality:size ratio. I figure that I want to have something to carry around with me that won't be extremely bulky but will still produce quality images.

The category's gotten really filled. Neil's covered the choices pretty well, I think.

Max image quality per dollar kinda goes out the window with the high end DSLRs. Triply so if you decide to spend on the pro lenses. But if you don't, then I'm not sure what benefit you'd get over spending the money on NEX or something similar. There's the whole Nikon V1 thing, too, but I don't know squat about it.

I take it you've considered the interchangeable lens vs not thing?
