Imagine there's no country, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too

Today, some how, we got in a debate about if America was better or worse or what than Europe and the rest of the world, and I was very torn. On one hand, I wanted to be like yeah, Europeans do kick our ass at most everything, they have a healthier public, a stronger dollar, more culture, etc. But then I still have some allegence to America, I mean ( Read more... )

Dang it, just as you finish your entry and there's good conversation, the battery powers out! lol... anyway, what I was going to say is that there is the viewpoint out there that without war etc our population would be completely unchecked, and that is probably a bad thing. Obviously you know about that but I was wondering what your take is on it... do you agree? I just wonder that since we have always discouraged war and disease and famine etc, what are we going to do when we "eliminate" those things and eat ourselves out of a planet... But I know that if it were my family starving I would want the food... and no war. I dunno... I'm very conflicted.

Same with the Europe v America thing... I'm glad I live in America except that everyone hates us now, and there are a lot of good things in Europe, but they come with a cost. Don't ask me how patriotic I am, because I don't know...lol I just get comfort from the fact that at least I want everyone to be able to afford healthcare etc. Makes me feel less selfish:-)
