Not in that order

I finished a romance book over the weekend and was thinking of buying book 2 in the series, but the description really put me off. It's "an oops, baby, but do you love me" book. I'm not a huge fan of the "oops baby" books in general, but when you add the "oh, I couldn't possibly have a relationship with you unless you love ME not just the baby," it really takes the story a place I don't like to go. I know I'm modern and progressive, but if the two parents are willing to parent the children and willing to try to be a living-together family unit, you at least try it before you blow it off with a "well, you only love the baby and idea of being a family, you don't love MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" thing. Because that's kind of being a selfish asshole move. Of course, I come from a background of arranged marriages (but don't we all) and I grew up on Fiddler on the Roof, "but my father and my mother said we'd learn to love each other/And now I'm asking, Golda, do you love me?" Of course. Because love is not an earned response, but it can be a learned one. You have to try and learn to someone; not by pretending or being someone else, but by being yourself and letting the other person be him or herself and experiencing things with your partner.
So I'm not sure if I want to read the book; even though I really liked book 1.
