I have the last Sword of Truth book and the Golden Compass on hold right now at the library and am looking forward to both of them. The Sword of Truth series is excellent, but you're right it does lose quality as it goes along.

As for the Golden Compass, the only reason I heard about it was because the Catholic School boards in Ontario made news for banning it. I find it juicily ironic that the only reason I will read the book is because a bunch of Catholics tried to censor it.

I have no interest in reading Atlas Shrugged or the Communist Manifesto. What kind of discussions were you having in which the Communist Manifesto was brought up? Do I want to know? Libertarianism and Communism have some appealing aspects, but I find both too extreme to actually succeed in reality.

I might check out the short story you mentioned.
