I stayed up too late last night watching a documentary on two guys who grew an acre of corn.  I know that sounds horribly dull, but it turned out to be really interesting...and gross.  They made high fructose corn syrup in their kitchen, and it was more like a chemistry experiment than cooking.  And they talked about how cows weren't made to eat
