I rediscovered a photo from a trip to New Hampshire last fall, and worked on it over the last couple of days. I have two different crops of the same photo. Here I post the two, and ask my humble audience to weigh in: which works better?

I see I'm in the minority so far. ;-) I find HDR hard on the eyes/brain, so I chose the image that was less visually busy. If it hadn't been HDR than I may well have gone for the river shot on composition.

Gorgeous, in either case. Where was that taken?

But then, you knew my preference. I like the way having the shrub and river in the foreground gives a greater sense of depth.

+1 too. I like the varied texture and contrast. For me it adds depth.

I like Including the River. It looks like the front slope of the central hill is oddly or over-exposed, and that really stands out in the cropped shot. It fades back to become visual texture in the larger shot.

Much love,

the crop on the other one looks odd, with just little bits of hill. I would re-crop it to make a just-a-sky photo, were it me.
