I'm not sure if rats are magical creatures, because I've looked for anything on rats and it's all useless rubbish. "Some may have red eyes, the sign of evil", I think Scamander used to be a bit a fanatical in his early days.
that's what makes them so difficult. i would almost rather have doxies, because at least people would have some idea of what to do with them. and i wouldn't feel so terrible about trying to remove them.
well, at least mine don't have red eyes?! that's a nice little reprieve.
I think she could spare one of them. She only just found two of them while she was out shopping the other day, and it was cold and snowing and they were little mewling kittens. Anyhow, I'm sure she wouldn't be too heartbroken if they were to go to a good home.
Why, I thought you would never ask! I am a veritable expert on household pests. Rats are mistakenly thought of as clean, intelligent and friendly creatures, but in reality they are dirty and full of diseases. Never trust one who keeps a rat as a pet! A pack of rats is not called a ratpack. It is actually called a gaggle. A male rat is called a stag, a female rat is called a chuck, and a baby rat is called a pup. Their pungent smell attracts doxies. The best way to rid yourself of a rat infestation is to burn sage for three days, step on their tails if at all possible, and send me a few galleons for this advice!!
that's all very interesting?, gilderoy. erm thanks! i didn't know that about the doxies, but i suppose i could have missed it in care of magical creatures class. i haven't noticed a pungent smell, either, but it could always be the next step...
if the cat turns out to be shy of them, i'll be sure to try some of these things maybe.
Good luck with the cat!! Their fur is said to have magical properties. When it sheds, it means you have magic in your bloodline. Hence all of the cat hair floating through Hogwarts. Did you know that cats owned by Muggles never shed? Very curious, indeed!
Professor Grubbly-Plank once offered me the position as substitute Care of Magical Creatures teacher, you know. I declined due to my very busy and important schedule. Most of my time is taken up by helping unfortunate souls like you! But I would do it again (and I will) all for the sake of educating my peers.
