So. Last Sunday my daughter and her BF were driving the backroads home, here. A kitty was in the road and wouldn't move. They stop the car and the kitty runs under the car. As they try and move the car with BF pushing, the kitty moves along underneath. They stop again and this time kitty jumps into the wheel well. Daughter makes a grab and gets the ( Read more... )

No way am I defending whatever the original cat owners did (because I have always had cats either strays or from shelters!) but maybe the Little Grey ones toilet habits may have been why the original owners couldn't deal with her...but there are much much better ways to address those issues than dumping cats!
Egad...the human race is so annoying at times...a lot of times!
The black one looks just like a cat I used to have...Mechugana by name. She was a good cat.
Usually the toilet problems are responses to behavioral problems like stress, or even a kidney or related medical issue. The vet didn't offer any advice? Ooops...you didn't say you had taken them to the vet...did you?

Try some good old fashioned dirt in the litter box.
Or put some newspapers in the corners?
It's probably used to going where ever it wants to go, inside or outside. :/

little grey one needs to be confined to a small room ( bathroom size or smaller) with nothing in it but the litter box, water and food. She probably will use the litter box since she doesn´t want to mess in her tiny space. Once she is using the litter box in there always, she can be out of this room for a while and every day a little longer.
good luck

How about putting plain dirt in a litter box and sticking it in a corner?

PS. If you end up keeping Little Grey, over time you can gradually add litter until the box is all litter.

I was going to suggest dirt as well, and I see so have others. If you've a half a bath, that would be a good room for putting her in for awhile. If you can't do that, I'd try putting the pan of litter in the corner where she's already gone. Also, some cats don't like sharing the same litter pan - try having a pan for each cat.
