Happy Turkey Weekend!

For those of you who don't know, it's Thanksgiving here in The Great White North. And because the majority of folks we *do* for are over 80 ... seriously! ... we have it on Saturday (so it doesn't interfere with Sunday church). happy thanksgiving!

that's a cut back meal?? wow, it seems like a lot for me. especially roasting the veggies. but i guess you can do that at the same time as the turkey. you must have a much bigger oven than me. i put sausage in my stuffing too. and mushrooms and onions. it's my favorite part of the meal. what, no mashed potatoes??

Turkey dinner is one of those "can cook with my eyes closed" meals I've been the main cooker of it for 20 years - Thanksgiving AND Christmas. So any of the sides I don't have to do is "cutting back" to me. And yes, of course we had mashed potatoes. Even though I prefer roast potatoes my kids would never forgive me for not giving them the opportunity to create moats with the gravy! ;)

it stresses me out to cook for a crowd. actually, if i'm not prepared, it stresses me out to cook for john!

we don't like dark meat, so we usually just get a breast. but i have been going to francine's for thanksgiving and christmas for years. i'll have to cook my own breast this year, i think.

did you bake and roast all that stuff at the same time?
