[Three weeks. Three weeks in that shit-hole was too damn long. Not that Raph has any idea how long it's been. He lost track a long time ago. Now, he staggers home through the woods from his mallynap, worn, battered and bruised

[Several visits later, Fujiko continues her daily checkups on him and stops by with a small present of shuriken. She has weird tastes. At least it's not bullets.]
[When she arrives, he's sitting on one of the livingroom armchairs that's been dragged onto the porch so he can sit in the sun and bask as much as that allows. He loves shuriken. Back when he used to work at the smithy, he'd make them almost obsessively. There's always a use for more.]
Yeah. I'm okay.
[But what he really wants is a kiss, and he won't take his eyes off her until he gets one.]
[So long as he says he's okay, Fujiko takes this as a sign that she can be a little more physically aggressive with him. So just like that, she hops into his lap with her arms wrapped around his neck and slowly draws out the shurikens one by one to playfully over them to him.]

[A small laugh, but it's clearly one of those ways that says she's not really joking as much as she pretends. She leans in closer and kisses near his ears.] I don't want there to be a next time. [And knowing that there could be, or even will be, gets to her. Knowing there's nothing she can do, is worse.]
[Easy, girl. He's still pretty sore. But he's glad to have her warm weight draped around him again, and will happily bear whatever pain comes with it. He lets her kiss him, running a sun-warmed leathery hand over her thigh.]
Not if I got anything to say about it.
[He smiles at her, but it's a sad smile, half-hearted and tired. He's had a lot on his mind lately, and he's glad she's here to make him feel a little less like an invalid and a little more like a man.]
