I loved your gas/cash pun!!!

wow 400-480 that is a lot of miles to drive every week. I drive about 300 a week. Which is almost a full tank (as I am sure you know) if I drive Lucille until she is puttering I get almost 380 miles. No wonder why you say that gas is your biggest expense.

It's so strange that we drive to practically the same places but I guess because I live closer to high ways and such I don't drive as many miles.

Right now I am in the "trial and error" phase of my money tracking. I figure for a month I will track what I spend on what and eventually make some cut backs and divey up the money accordingly like you are doing with your money.

I will also be making so much more once school ends which is good but also bad because I always end up spending most of it. Which is also another reason I am trying to cut my spending now before I get bigger pay checks.

i have this massive spreadsheet that i've kept since 2000 with every expense i ever make. it's completely worth the effort (and you get into the habit of just entering all the data right after spending the money). for example, i quickly realized that i was spending gazillions of dollars a month eating out. i toned it down, saved lots of money, and (wonder of wonders!) lost lots of weight. same with dvd buying and various other things. so: stick with it, you'll be glad!

Once school settles down I will be turning my project into a spread sheet. For right now I just bought a small line moleskine journal and I am just keeping track there for now to see where it takes me.

I am already glad, like I said in the entry I already stopped myself from buying unnecessary clothing, and today I didn't buy a coffee. Every dollar counts!
