That sounds really awful. I think you're doing the right thing in quitting, assuming you're okay without the money. There's no future in that kind of work, so the faster you can move on to a job where you can advance and gain skills, the better.

It has been my observation that the lower paid the job is, the more abusive it tends to be in all regards - the work is harder, the bosses more mercurial, the hours less stable, the conditions less safe, etc. It's an odd thing that you need to get a higher paying job to get easier conditions. One would think the hardest jobs would pay the best, but to my experience, that's not the case. I have a lot of respect for anyone who does minimum wage or nearly minimum wage labor. It's not only back-breaking, soul-crushing work, but it's unrewarding as can be.

Good on you for getting out of it!

It didn't use to be awful. I enjoy making people happy with pizza. I enjoy the usually-positive atmosphere and upbeat workplace.

Unfortunately, I'm an honest person who believes that loyalty begets loyalty. I scratch your back, you scratch mine and we take care of each other. They insist on treating me like a tool and a problem, when compared to some other employees they've had (namely one manager who set-up a robbery of the store, he was caught and is in jail), I'm an ideal employee because I try to make things better when and do a superior job in a place that won't/can't give appreciation.

My respect for minimum wage labor and anything involving food has tripled. An easy order, a thank you, a smile, or a decent tip can make their day.

It was the texting that got to me. I HATE texting important conversations.
