One of the things I did a couple years ago, that I decided I wanted to do again as sort of a new year's resolution this year, was keep track of all the books I read. It was really neat, that year, to see
( Read more... )
Of course, since the beginning of the year, I've been haphazardly writing them down on a sheet of paper and saying "I'm going to start making LJ entries one of these days..." and suddenly the list is RIDICULOUS long.
I was gonna say I totally get this, but then I looked at the list and compared it to the measly NINE books on my list and realized that I'm not even in the same ballpark. :)
Yes, I've owned several copies of Hard Love, and given a few away...have enjoyed many of her other books too (you know she's Buffista Kate P's mom, right?).
I didn't mark all the YA's on the list...17, 18, 19, and 21, and 34 are also YAs, I think...
OOh, I'll go back and look at those, too. I'm writing YA now (or, you know, trying to) because it's always been my first love. Actually Kate P.'s is my dream job, aside from writing it.
Heh. White House Autumn is actually part of a series (#3? or so) about a girl whose mom is elected president. There are, randomly, SEVERAL series out there with premises similar to this, that I have read (...I think there's a Meg Cabot? series where she dates the son of the president? or something? and a couple other ones where something similar goes on. Plus I think I might've forgotten to write down a whole set of ones I got from the library, because I know I recently checked out First Daughter: Extreme American Makeover. Maybe that was in December, but I thought it was more recent...
Apparently I have a thing for reading about "how children deal with DC power and privilege"? I think because I find it much more entertaining than Hollywood drama or "OMG I'm so spoiled in NYC". ...but that's me, and not the actual target audience.
I have a couple of books that I received to judge for the RITA that are GLBT lit (lesbian specifically)-- would you be interested in them? They've very small press pubbed and the one I've read so far was kind of eh. (The other one has pirates, so I'm have hope) I doubt I'll very many takers around here for them. Let me know if you want them and I'll happily send.

I have to make a note of the YAs you read, because I haven't heard of them.
