Depends, most people seem to think it's bad, especially with America's views. In the end, it just doesn't work on large scale well.

Personally I'm all about capitalism! But I wouldn't mind being socialist when I get big, or something. I'll invent a new system of government that's what I'll do!

So it all depends on the person?

Whats capitalism...and a socialist? Whats that?

Well... the idea behind it is noble? I mean, nuns are communists and everyone thinks they're good right?

Capitalism is when you sell stuff and buy stuff and make lots of money and become rich! Socialism is when you make people pay a lot of money in taxes so everyone has the same access to government run stuff. Like medical and schools. I guess it's communism and capitalism thrown in a blender?

I would agree with you, but I have no idea what a nun is.

Sounds complicated. So basically, capitalism is a society run by money, and socialism is run completely by the government?

A communist is someone who believes in communism, which is a political ideology. It's an ideal wherein there is no need for a government, and everyone within that society is equal. Nobody takes or uses more than they need and everything is owned by the people. Sadly, it appears to be a rather unobtainable ideal, but if I remember correctly, it was put forward that humanity would reach this aim after hundreds of years - something of an evolution, if you will.

I was right then. It does sound a lot like how my tribe was run. It worked just fine for us, but from what that kid said, it seems it doesn't work on a larger scale.

It hasn't where I'm from at any rate. Of course, the countries that were, or are, supposedly communist are communist only in name, being either more socialist, or a dictatorship which has capitalist leanings in order to prosper economically.

Thats what I'm trying to figure out. From what everyones saying, it sounds similar to the water tribes life style.

Basically, everyone shares what they have, and everyone has what they need to survive.

Communism, in theory, is supposed to be equality for all. No one man is better than the other. The land is shared, as is all income. Everything is the same for each other.

However, what tends to happen is that the government dictates who is deserving and who is not. Most of the time money is taken from the poor and given to the rich or taxes are heavier on them since they make little as compared to the rich. In essence, it greatly divides the rich from the poor. It tends to make for a very corrupt country.

I would say it sounds like how my life was down in the southern water tribes, but we weren't corrupt.

Honestly, when things like that happen, someone should put a stop to it. Its not right.

Sadly, people cannot stop them most of the time. The military tends to stand up for the government and not the people. Many are killed in uprisings.

Yea well, usually uprisings aren't planned. I'm sure if they took the time to come up with a good strategy, things would go a lot better than if they just attacked without one.

hahaha I'm sorry he's so American fuck_you_d August 9 2009, 20:49:46 UTC
Don't listen to whatever that Russia jerk tells you! If he says communism is a good thing, he's either in denial or flat out lying. Communism is a political system where the government takes control of everything and runs all the businesses into the ground. They promise equality for everyone, but it's all a lie, and they go around killing off anyone who complains about it. They're corrupt and evil, so intent on world domination that they either take over other countries and convert them or just destroy them outright!

All in all, they're almost as bad as Nazis.

You're damn right it is. Sadly, there's always gonna be some jerks who go around using people for their own gain. These guys are some of the worst. They go around preaching about sharing and everyone being worth the same, but when their leaders are all greedy, corrupt bastards, you can bet your ass that things just won't work out that way.
