“I just don’t see why we can’t be more festive, I mean, it is Christmas,” Angela insisted. Her husband shook his head and looked out the window, watching the snow-covered trees as they drove through the forest.
Cam looked back at Angela in the driver’s mirror. “Last year I let some of the archaeology interns decorate the lab. They put mistletoe in Autopsy.” She nodded decisively. “There will not be any decorating this year.” She parked the SUV and they all unloaded their equipment.
The crime scene was at a large pond that was frozen over. Several crime scene technicians were already taking readings on the ice and searching the surrounding area. Booth and Brennan were talking to the man who had found the body.
As they approached the scene, Angela shook her head. “Come on, guys, what happened to your Christmas spirit?” She ducked under the tape and turned to her husband. “Jack, we had so much fun decorating the house with Michael, why don’t you want to do this?”
Hodgins gave her a disbelieving look and pointed at the pond. “Don’t you know why we’re here, Angela?”
“I know, someone was murdered, but we do that every day. I don’t see why-” She cut off as she reached the pond.
Trapped under several inches of ice, face contorted in terrified death throes, was a man dressed as Santa.
Angela sighed. “Okay universe, I get the picture.” As they began their work, she grumbled under her breath, “Merry Christmas.”
