Hockey Holidays 2021 Letter
Hello fellow hockey fan!
This letter is in progress and will be finished very soon! I'll have ship-specific prompts up shortly but in the meantime here is a broad swathe of things I generally like.
General likes:
H/c, found family, polyamory, happy endings, fluff, friendship.
AUs: Mundane, sports, workplace, pack (with or without werewolviness), magic, creature (especially incubi/succubi).
Anything about scents, whether that's ABO-style scent-marking, more general scents on peoples' clothes or when near their skin, or the scents of things in the standard environment, like nature or food or fabrics.
I'd love to read the thing you've been working on but haven't had an excuse to finish.
Opt-ins: Background relationships, infidelity, first or second person POVs, A/B/O that isn't just a sex scene, identity headcanons (especially asexuality and polyamory).

Works in the regular universe or an alternate universe that involve the team as an in-group of some sort. This can include team soulbonds, werewolves, anything with a strong focus on group hierarchy, basically anything that has team members looking to each other for socializing and support. Some of my favorite things about hockey fics are those that focus on the idea of bonds between teammates, how the specific set-up of a hockey careers can lead to both strong relationships with people, places, and organizations, and then sudden changes in circumstance.
When I prompt for hockey fics, I tend to pretend that RL romantic partners and children don't exist, but feel free to include them if that's how you're seeing things, I don't have a problem with that.
Just a though- I feel like all of these people must be in pain all of the time? Like even if it's what you've been doing your whole life, and even actual injuries or strains aside, a heavy duty workout can leave you with soreness or pain in various muscles or joints, especially if you're further on and that knee has been bugging you for years, for example. Anything regarding that would be cool to read about, from physical therapy, to a hot bath, massages, to how that lifestyle would interact with D/s arrangements. Like what would it mean to be a part-time masochist in a contact sport?

[Jillian Dempsey/Kayleigh Fratkin]Jillian Dempsey/Kaleigh Fratkin: I'd love to see something happy for these two. They've both been in the NWHL/PHF since the beginning, Jillian playing for the same team the whole time and Kaleigh playing for three different teams before finally winning hte Cup with the Pride this past season. After Demps lifted the Cup, she went and handed it straight to Fratty because of how much she deserved it. They've both won a Clarkson Cup and an Isobel Cup now and have been leaders on their teams and in the league for years. If you like resources, their Wikipedia pages and Instagram accounts are great.
I'd love to see fic set at any point in time for these two. Anything about the tumult of #OneLeague or dealing with Covid, playing in the bubble at Lake Placid, would be awesome, but I'd also love to see any classic hockey tropes like Cup Magic, rivals to friends to lovers, There Was Only One Room/Bed. Angst is fine, but I'd prefer a happy ending.

[Tera Hofmann/Saroya Tinker]Tera Hofmann/Saroya Tinker: I love both of these girls! Saroya has been outspoken about the need for diversity in the sport since at least college, has her own mentorship program for young Black girls in hockey, and also paints pictures of herself naked and sells them. Talk about powerful. Tera has been an advocate for victims of sexual misconduct and founded a queer magazine and is also really funny on Instagram, which I personally value highly. They went to Yale together, were drafted to and played for the Riveters together, both knelt for the anthems during the Lake Placid season, and both went to join the Toronto Six together. They're also both super hot #unbiased. I would love to see anything for these two from Yale to New York to Toronto. If you like references, here are their Instagrams and some sources I liked.
I would love to see something magical for these two! Any sort of magic AU would be cool, superpowers, Harry Potter, witches, elemental magic, or whatever you can think of.
Hockey tropes would also be excellent ofc. Tera is a goalie and I would love to see anything about how goalie nesting works at the college level or at the 'travelling for games on weekends' level. How does it work during Covid, or when your rink doesn't have a designated nesting room etc? Anything like kneeling verse, Cup magic, hockey gods, would also be lots of fun.
If you're not feeling either of those, I'm definitely down for some soulmate AU or just anything fun you're interested in!
[Anya Battaglino/Madison Packer]Anya Battaglinoa/Madison Packer: Life goals wife goals tbh. Rivals to lovers story? Anything about that would be incredible obviously. How did that Or whappen? Were feelings sparked by rough play on the ice? Was it begrduging respect for each others' hockey? Was it just how hot they both are? Danbury ad NYC aren't too too far apart (there's a player on the Rivs this year who's still rooming with her old teammates on the Whale), did they travel to see each other? Or was this relationship built on secretly sneaking out after games? Did their teammates plot to get them together?
I think my dream for this ship would be a 'Winner's Room' style thing where winner's room isn't actually a thing but either these two or their teammates straight-faced decide to act like it's a thing so they can hook up. That being said, I'd love to see anything for this ship xD I'm not huge on babies, but pregnancy fic would also be fun, and it would be cool to read about raising a child while being a pro player and a GM.
[Jamie Oleksiak/Brandon Tanev]Jamie Oleksiak/Brandon Tanev: I do not know who nommed this or why but I want to see it. Tanev is my favorite player and Big Rig is hot, like literally what more does there need to be? I'd love to read about the experience of building this team and trying to establish any sort of chemistry when literally like five of your players have played together before. Exploring Seattle together, maybe meeting up by accident at one of the places in that 'Welcome to the city' book the team put together for the players? Imagine a Meet Cute when you also actually work together. I would also love to see an ABO verse or kneeling verse fic or soulmark AUs where the soulmarks develop rather than just having one soulmate. Really anything that's set in the 'drafted to Seattle' timeline would be awesome! Actually I've requested Flower & GKnights ensemble below and some of the thoughts I have about that expansion also would work for this ship.

[Kasperi Kapanen/Brandon Tanev]Kasperi Kapanen/Brandon Tanev: Whoever nominated this is my favorite person in this exchange (at least until fics come out). Tanev was the weirdest guy on the Penguins and now that he's gone, Kappy has ascended to the title. They went on vacation together in the summer, making unintentionally funny golf videos on Instagram, and Kappy has said that Tanev was one of the people who made him feel at home in Pittsburgh. He has also liked all of Tanev's Instagram posts except for the latest one??? What I'm saying is that this is a love story in the middle of the angsty slipt-up part. What is happening???
If this current moment isn't what you want to write, I'd be very down for any wacky fics, AUs, dumb tropes, or complete crackfic for this ship. 'Don't realize they're dating' would also be excellent.

What I really like here in terms of ships would be established McDrai and then the rivalry coming in and complicating things. Whatever you want that to look like is cool with me! I'm down for V-shaped threesome or a throuple, or people who just hook up, polyweb with other draft class people or if you want to incorporate the Sens squad. Anything with Winner's room or the AllStar game would also be fun. I'm also 100% down for infidelity fics, and though I like a happy ending, I'm also very here for angst or break-ups or complications. Covid is fine by me but also feel free to ignore it if you like.
[Marc-Andre Fleury & Vegas Golden Knights Ensemble]Marc-Andre Fleury & Vegas Golden Knights Ensemble: As a fan of Flower, Pittsburgh, and Seattle, the development of the GKnights team, with Flower as the banner draftee, and then the season after that is really cool to me even though I wasn't there for it. If you want to set anything durin that era that would be awesome. I would also love to see anything that's more about settling into the rhythm of it beyond the first season. What are some things that maybe didn't fall into place immediately and had to be worked on after that season?What traditions does the team develop, was there trial and error? How did it work without an official captain? I'd love to see any of the hockey tropes like Winners' room, kneeling verse, goalie nesting, in that context of breaking new ground, opportunity and uncertainty, players who weren't top liners on other teams being thrust into the spotlight and expected to play new roles while perhaps missing people they've left behind.
Friendship and team-feels are great, and I'm also here for any ship you're interested in, or any sort of group vibes of whatever flavor.
[Braden Holtby/Anton Khudobin]Braden Holtby/Anton Khudobin: Goalie4Goalie. I like both of these guys individually, but it will be interesting to see how they might be together! With the amount of injuries and Covid effects at the position this year, there's a lot of uncertainty and shifting roles, especially with the past few seasons they've had. Do they support each other, or are they in competition? Is there discontent, or might they perhaps be mutually discontented at coaching staff? Do either of them want a rookie? Or maybe they both want the rookie xD I'm a big fan of the goalie nesting trope so very much anything along those lines would be fantastic to me. Bonus points for including Holtby's tortoises.
