I bet it is the teacher that's making it confusing. You should look into those "Chemistry Demystified" books at work. They really do work (maybe not that particular brand, but seriously..). Look into McGraw-Hill's MCAT study guide, too (it's in college reference, $65, and really fat). They have brief overviews of different subjects (especially chemistry) and it's super useful, even if you don't want to go to med school. That's how I taught myself chemistry. Check it out from work. :D
