ok, here's the deal. this year is all about self improvement. after talking to sara i've decided i wanted to make a list with the things about me that need improvement. so, please, tell me what i need to improve upon. be as honest and blunt as you can possibly be. i will not argue, i will not respond. you can post it annonymously, but i won't judge ( Read more... )

To start, let me say that you are a good person, but there is always room for improvement--but remember, there is no such thing as perfect. I've read many of your posts, and the things that I keep seeing pop up are self abuse. The things that I think you could work on are 1.) realize how truely lucky you are. You have a good life, don't trash it; not to sound cliche, but things could always be worse. 2.) realize that you are beautiful. You are a beautiful person--physically and you have much inner beauty. Embrace yourself. You must learn to love yourself--it is a rough road to travel, but in the end, it is totally worth it. Realize that you are NOT fat! You are far from it. If exercise helps you feel better about yourself, keep it up. But don't kill yourself over it. This brings me to number 3.) Stop beating yourself up over everything. Everyone has faults, it's human. You don't have to kill yourself over all your mistakes. 4.) Everyone is entitled to be selfish at times; this is also human nature--we look out for ourselves, it's ( ... )

realize there is no right answer. this means there is no perfection. this means the best we can do is what will make us happiest (which is probably not being so upset about imperfections).

be happy with youself, help others do the same.

i'm not saying give up your ambitions. but love all of it-- the failures too.

no. the point of this is that i scare people off. i need to know what i am doing that is making me lose friends. people can't be honest with me about it, which is why i'm pleading. i don't strive for perfection. in order to accept myself, i need to know where i stand.

"the point of this is that i scare people off."

exactly. when you act like you and the rest of the world suck, people notice that. and it's way better for them to reject you and your negative thoughts than be your friend and decide either that you're just whacked out, or (even worse) that you're right.

by "better for them to" i mean it keeps them happier. not that it is the correct thing. i have no idea what the correct thing is.

Just try and be a little more optimistic, huh? Things often suck, and almost never go as planned. If you always concentrate on the negative, then other people pick up on that. You are a really smart, fun, great person, and there is no reason why people shouldn't like you (and many do, BTW). Its just that the negativity can be a little hard to get past. I know its easier said than done, but I find that life is a lot easier to live if I try and focus on as much good as I can.
