First the worst,
Second the best,
Third the one with the hairy chest,
Fourth the golden eagle,
Fifth the witch, down in the ditch, eating bread and treacle

:D

Okay, so I guess the golden eagle needs to repeat on line four, or just move down a notch. He seems to work as a step three too, though!

Um, excuse my ignorance, but what is this? I have never heard of this. Is it a children's rhyme sort of thing?

Hah, yes it is. Sorry, I should have explained more, I'll edit the post. It's a schoolyard chant thing recited by children who didn't come first after a race or contest, but there's lot of local variants with some appealingly odd and surreal positions and stations. From what I'm hearing, it's possibly just a british thing.

Haha, For some reason when I first saw the chart I assumed it was a thing about first sexual experiences, using some kinds of metaphors...

That's.. disturbingly fitting. Sort of. Maybe that's the secret meaning to the rhyme...

I'm still trying to figure out "the ghost eating toast halfway up a lamp-post", though. How do you even do that ? How many people does it take ?

I'm in California- we had "first the worst, second the best, third the nerd" I don't remember after that, sadly. It was twenty years ago I was in grade school.

Australia - "first the worst, second the best, third going to down to the town in the West".
